Clinics and Services

Adult Immunisations

Vaccinations aren’t just for children — some are important in adulthood too. We offer a range of adult immunisations to help protect your health.

Please see the NHS website for a list of immunisations and when to have them

Asthma

If you have asthma, our clinic can help you keep it under control. We’ll check how your breathing has been, review your inhalers and other medicines, and make sure you’re using them in the best way. We’ll also talk through any symptoms or flare-ups you’ve had and help you make a plan to stay well

Cervical Screening: Smear Tests

Women aged between 24 and 64 should have a cervical screening every 3 to 5 years to help prevent cervical cancer.

Eligible patients will be contacted directly by NHS Screening Service and asked to book when this is due. If you are aged over 24 and have never had a smear test, or if it has been more than 3 to 5 years since your last screening, you should arrange an appointment with a Practice Nurse

You should not have the test while you are having a period or in the 4 days before or after your period as this can affect the sample.

COPD

If you have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), our clinic supports you in managing your breathing and staying as well as possible. We’ll review your symptoms, check your inhalers and medication. We’ll work with you to make a plan that fits your needs

Covid Vaccination

Diabetes

If you have diabetes, our clinic is here to help you stay well and manage your condition. We’ll check things like your blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and foot health. We’ll also talk with you about your medicines, diet, and daily routine. You’ll get clear advice that’s right for you,

Ear Syringing

If you are having problems with blocked ears due to a build-up of earwax, you may be offered ear syringing (also called ear irrigation). This is a simple procedure where warm water is gently used to help remove the wax. Before this can be done, you’ll usually need to use olive oil drops for 7-10 days to soften the wax. We’ll check your ears first to make sure the treatment is safe and suitable for you

First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP)

If you have a muscle, joint or back problem, you can book directly with a First Contact Physiotherapist instead of seeing a GP first. They are specialists in assessing these kinds of issues and can help you understand what’s going on, give advice, and suggest exercises to support your recovery. They can also refer you for further treatment or tests if needed. You don’t need a GP appointment to see them.

Learning Disability Checks

If you have a learning disability, you can have a yearly health check to help you stay well. At the appointment, we’ll take time to talk with you about your health, check things like your weight, blood pressure, and any medicines you take, and see if you need any extra support. You can bring someone with you if you like, and we’ll make sure everything is explained clearly. The check is a good way to spot any problems early and help you get the care you need

Mental Health Nurse

If you're struggling with your mental health, the GP may refer you to see a mental health nurse. They are specially trained to support people with conditions like anxiety, depression, or ongoing emotional difficulties. They can offer time to talk, help you understand your symptoms, and support you in finding ways to cope or recover. They can also guide you towards other services if needed.

Mental Health Physical Checks

If you are living with a mental health condition, it’s important to keep an eye on your physical health too. At this check, we’ll look at things like your weight, blood pressure, and blood tests, and talk about your general wellbeing, lifestyle, and any medicines you take. The aim is to spot any physical health problems early and support you to stay well. We’ll take the time to listen and make sure everything is explained clearly

New Patient Health Checks

When you join a new GP practice, you may be offered a health check to get a clear picture of your current health. This appointment is a chance to talk about your medical history, lifestyle, and any concerns you have. We’ll check things like your blood pressure, weight, and may do some simple tests. This helps us understand your health needs so we can provide the right care for you. This is different from the NHS Health Check, which is offered to people aged 40 to 74 to look for specific health risks

NHS Health Checks

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up offered once every five years to adults aged 40 to 74 who do not already have certain health conditions. It helps find early signs of problems like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, and some types of dementia. During the check, we’ll look at your blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, and lifestyle, and may do a blood test. We’ll also talk about ways to stay healthy and reduce any risks

More information about NHS Health Checks can be found on the NHS website

Social Presriber

A social prescriber can help you with things that affect your health but aren’t medical — like feeling lonely, stressed, or needing support with housing, money, or getting more active. They’ll take the time to listen and connect you with local services, groups, or activities that can make a difference to your wellbeing.

Steroid Injections

Some GPs are trained to give steroid injections for joint or soft tissue problems, such as arthritis, tendon issues, or bursitis. These injections can help reduce pain and swelling in a specific area. Common areas treated include the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, or base of the thumb. The GP will assess whether an injection is right for you and explain the benefits and any possible side effects. If suitable, the injection can be given during a routine appointment.

Stop Smoking Help

If you’re thinking about quitting smoking, we’re here to help. You can get support through our stop smoking service, which offers practical advice, encouragement, and treatment options like nicotine replacement or other medications. You’re more likely to quit for good with support than by going it alone.
